Shilajit (shee-lah-jeet) is a mineral pitch that oozes from many high altitude mountains ranges in the heat of summer. It is formed over time as the mountains compress ancient organic vegetation that got stuck between the rocks. It is also called “blood of the mountain.”

It’s name Shilajit means “destroyer of weakness.” It has been treasured in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years as a panacea medicine to strengthen the body and prevent illness. It is comprised mainly of Fulvic and Humic acids, which are naturally found in healthy, rich black soil and are often depleted from large, mono-cropped conventional farms.

One of the things that makes shilajit special is that the chelated vitamins and ionized minerals in shilajit are HIGHLY bioavailable unlike vitamins and minerals from other plant sources or supplements. In fact, the fulvic and Humic acid compounds in shilajit actually increase the bioavailability of other nutrient sources, when taken together. This is why these compounds are found in many high end supplement brands, as it enhances the medicinal potency of the other herbs and vitamins.
